About Green Witch Crafts

My Story

After 24 years as a teacher, life took an unexpected turn when I began struggling with my physical and mental health. I needed coping strategies for living with chronic pain, FND and for navigating major life changes, so I turned to crafting as a way to be more mindful and live in the moment.

As soon as I started, memories of sitting with my Nan, crocheting and knitting together, came flooding back to me, and I was hooked! At the same time, I was reading The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock, which spoke to me about honouring, treasuring, and respecting our environment. It reminded me that even small actions can have a huge impact.

That's when I decided my creations would be made almost entirely from recycled, repurposed, unloved, or unwanted materials—everything from broken necklaces to recycled t-shirt yarn and new yarn made from recycled plastic bottles. What started as a hobby has blossomed into a small business, and the real success has been the wonderful repeat customers who love to collect my pieces in different styles and colours.

I want women, especially those middle aged, like me (starting this venture in my fifties) to believe in themselves, to never give up when faced with challenges, and I want them to be heard and seen. To embrace this time of life, and to celebrate their own individual beauty.

I now love working from home with my little Spanish rescue dog, Dave, creating pieces that bring joy while respecting our planet.

About the Products

Each piece I create is a unique, rustic, handmade fabric necklace or infinity scarf—something completely different to anything on the high street. They are the perfect alternative fashion accessory for women of all ages who want to convey their own style and individuality. You will notice that I refer to some of my items are scarves, and some as necklaces, usually depending on the shape, weight or materials used. Either way, hang them when not in use, and treat as you would any other precious necklace or accessory. That way you won't end up in knots!

I love playing with colours and find inspiration everywhere: the vibrant hues of rosehips in August; a beautifully decorated room on Pinterest; an unusual piece of textured yarn I have found; watching Vikings on Netflix! Every day brings new creative possibilities.

My products...

  • Look stunning on plain tops or dresses, particularly when paired with a kimono.
  • Are perfect for vests or off-the-shoulder tops for summer festivals.
  • Keep you warm in Winter, as the air is trapped between the layers.
  • Are great for coordinating outfits or adding a pop of colour to patterned pieces.
  • Cover low necklines on dresses or tops you love but don't like to wear.
  • Are easy to wear and inclusive; instead of lots of fussy fastenings, just pop-over-your-head to create that beautiful, bohemian layered look.
  • Make a real statement, and elevates any outfit, to get you noticed.
  • Are perfect for festivals, celebrations, costumes, or cosplay.
  • Make thoughtful gifts that show you care about style and sustainability.

The Ranges: From Goth and Viking to Bohemian and Witchy, plus my special "One for Nana" range made from yarns found in bulk buys—honouring those precious crafting memories. Some are more suitable for daily wear, and others for that special occasion or night out. Available in most colours, depending upon current stock.

Materials & Process: I hunt for second hand treasures, then transform them into wearable art. I use wool, yarn, cord, t-shirt yarn, jewellery, ribbon, lace, beads, feathers, amongst other things, and try to utilise everything I find so nothing goes to waste.

I clearly label any products which I know to be suitable for a Vegan lifestyle. Items which are not labelled Vegan may contain wool. Products are suitable for adults only; do not operate machinery or go near a naked flame whilst wearing; wipe clean only.

Ethical & Sustainable: As a supporter of slow fashion and an ethical brand, each piece is a statement against fast fashion and the environmental damage it causes.

When your Green Witch Crafts parcel arrives, I do my best to make unwrapping it a lovely experience; however, I do source my packaging second hand or reduced, so it will probably not hit the consistent or standard appearance of some 'handmade' sellers! Just remember, when you buy and wear Green Witch Crafts, you're choosing to support a small business, and honour our planet while expressing your unique style.

Welcome to a world where sustainability meets individuality, and every piece tells a story. 🌿
